Clothing - West Coast weather can be sunny, cold and wet - all on the same day - so rain-wear and gumboots are a must have. Similarly an umbrella for your easel would also be beneficial, but not mandatory. 

* If you are an experienced plein air painter, just bring your usual supplies. The individual instructor lists (coming soon) are for your information only.  If you have any supply questions please contact the Federation office: 604-681-2744

  • Lightweight easel
  • Small folding stool
  • Apron or paint shirt
  • Sun hat
  • Drinking water
  • Backpack, box or trolley to carry your supplies
  • Small sketchbook
  • Pencils, eraser, sharpener
  • Primed boards or canvases
  • Paints- oils or acrylics
  • Brushes
  • Rags or paper towels/blue shop towels
  • Palette (wet for oils, spritzer for acrylics)
  • Garbage bags
  • Water or solvent container
  • Medium/retarder
  • Sunscreen/ bug repellent
  • Viewfinder
  • Reference photos in case of rain
  • Camera

Tuesday 3rd September - Arrival day 

7 PM - Evening orientation and Meet and Greet Social


Wednesday 4th September - Day 2

9 AM - 4 PM Painting in small groups with your first Master Instructor

7 PM Demonstration presentation by a guest instructor - TBA


Thursday 5th September - Day 3

9 AM - 4 PM Painting in small groups with a different Master Instructor

7 PM  "Paint Off" - 


Friday 6th September - Day 4

9 AM - 4 PM Painting in small groups with the third Master Instructor

7 PM panel discussion with all Master Instructors


Saturday 7th September - Day 5

9 AM - 4 PM Mixed group or individual painting

Time TBC - Evening exhibition and sale of artworks made during the retreat 


Sunday 8th September - Departure Day
