Welcome to the

2018 FCA Plein Air Retreat


July 29 - August 3, 2018


Day 1 - Sunday, July 29th, 2018

  • Afternoon arrival – after 4pm
  • Check-in at the Manning Park Lodge along the main parking lot. We’ll have an FCA table set up outside.
  • Familiarize yourself with the resort and its surroundings. Have dinner.
    • 7pm - start of evening activities
    • Introduction of the four instructors, and the committee.
    • Introduction / reminder of how the week will function and day by day itinerary.
    • Divide the students into four groups.
    • Question and answer period.


 
Day 2 through 5 - Monday to Thursday


A different instructor and location every day.


  • 9:30am    Meet your instructor for the day at “main house”.

                            Travel to your location for the day.

  • 10:00am  Workshop start time.
  • 12:00pm  Break for lunch.
  • 4:30pm    Break from painting, go have dinner / freshen up.
  • 7:00pm    Meet at the “main house” for evening activities.


 

Day 6 - Friday


  • 9:30          Final opportunity to paint, take photos, last visit with new found friends - freestyle

                            Leave by 1:30

 
Evening Activities- starting every day at 7pm

In addition to the planned activities below we encourage everyone to explore the park; go on walks, sit and visit around the cozy fire pit, catch the sun set, rent a canoe, etc.
 
Day 1 – Sunday: Welcome to Manning Park. Introduction to how the week is going to unfold. Be introduced to your fellow artists and find out who is in your painting group.
SFCAs and instructors will take part in a lively panel discussion: Q&A format with questions from the moderator and participants.

Day 2 - Monday: Painting demonstration and instruction by an SFCA member or one of the four instructors.

Day 3 – Tuesday: “ShowOff” group painting competition and demonstration by SFCA members and instructors. Mill around and enjoy the competition in an informal setting.

Day 4 – Wednesday: BBQ & bonfire night (if fires are allowed in the park). We’ll supply the hotdogs and potato salad. BYOB.

Day 5 – Thursday: "Show and Sale" or just show your week's work. All artists are encouraged to participate in this fun event. All work must have been produced during the workshop week. Instructors are permitted to bring additional art works for sale.
